Quality Control

The different freeform Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) products can be measured within a few minutes. After obtaining the digital format Melotte is able to compare directly with the original cad-file and enables fast visualization of full field deviations using color plot reports. For a more detailed inspection primitives will be generated from mesh data (spheres, cylinders, cones, planes, Lines,…)



In combination with Layered Manufacturing Melotte is improving quality and quality control constantly.

What is optical scanning ?

3D scanning = capturing the physical shape of any object and converting it into a digital format.


This non-contact digitizing is done via our mobile, portable white light digitizing system. Data from freeform surface obtained highly accurate and fast. The following data can be processed for quality control, rapid machining and reverse engineering.

Optical Scanning @ Melotte

Melotte develops advanced Direct Digital Manufacturing Solutions.

Some time ago Melotte decided to add the optical measurement to her portfolio. Today we are proud to announce full integration of DDM with optical scanning, a non-contact dimensional measurement and inspection system to make rapid, precise measurements of highly complex and reflective machined parts. This method ensures the dimensional accuracy of Melotte's high-end rapid manufactured parts with tolerances up to +/- 3µm.

High performance, enormous detail resolution and broad selection of measuring areas are allowing efficient and precise data gathering and reporting of quality control, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping and rapid milling.

In the next days we will present a few Melotte cases by visualizing different possibilities in combination with robot enhanced 5-axis milling and layered manufacturing.
